In the pokemon games, how effective are the stat changing moves, are they worth using?

Ok, so i see everyone using stat boosting moves on the pokemon games, and usually i load up my pokemon with the highest powered offensive moves, draco meteor being one of them, but i see these stat changing moves increasing a pokemons attack, so heres an example: beedrill used nasty plot +1 sp. atk. so what i wanna know is, how much does one increase special attacks power, as in, if your special attack is increased by one, does it increase a special moves power by 25% or 50% etc. that what i want to know. how much do the stages increase a moves power by.

It increases it by quite a bit

There are 6 stages of increase, which increase by x1.5, x2.0, x2.5, x3.0, x3.5, and x4.0

So if a pokemon used Nasty Plot 6 times, it would have 4 times the attack it had originally.

Well then stat boosting/changing moves are quite effective, more effective if they were abilities actually (like Speed Boost that increases speed every turn and Guts that boosts attack if there's a status problem).

You know that they could be better if there's the SHARPLY increases or HARSHLY increases (or fell) for stat changers, they would be effective, or have your Pokemon learn an attack move with a chance of increasing your Attack/Special At. Stat or decreasing opponent's Defense/Special Def. Stat.

I don't do Math on Pokemon but after you get your foe to SLEEP or PARALYZE or FROZEN then use those stat changing moves and get max boost. If I'm not mistaken normal changes can be done 6 times, harshly 3 times I don't know much sorry. THAT you have to search Wikipedia.

Keep in mind that your foes can also manipulate stats such as Psych Up to copy stat changes, use Barrier and etc (especially Haze that eliminates stat changes so you really need the above status effects on your opponent). That's all.

Thanks for giving this question.

I think it increases your stat by 0.4X then 0.8X and so on I don't think it increases by 0.5X

Nasty Plot actually boosts Sp.Atk by 2 stages, regular boost=+1 stage, sharply rose=+2 stage, and drastically rose=+3 stage. They're pretty effective depending on the Pokemon you're using. An example is Cloyster with Shell Smash, after 1 Shell Smash boost my Cloyster was able to take down most of my opponent's Pokemon at ease. Teaching only the most powerful moves won't always be the best thing to do. Some strategy needs to be involved too.

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about stat-changing moves.

Rather, I'd teach them the strongest offensive moves you could, with one catch.

Don't make them all the same time.

Try to make your Pokemon as diverse as possible.

Like, don't teach Charizard ONLY Fire Moves when there's so much more. If you can, find something that's super effective to teach it that would be super effective against your own Charizard. For instance, water is supereffective against Charizard. If you can, find some grass move or something to teach him if you can.

(Note: The previous paragraph was just examples.)

If you have well-balanced Pokemon comprising a well-balanced party, more often than not you'll have a HUGE edge over other players.
