In version 3.5 I am Playing as a 9 human paladin. Now When I attack, I hit but don't have enough damage output. I mostly use long swords. My current equipment is half-plate, Masterwork long sword, Master work long Spear, land light shield. My feats are Dodge, Power attack, cleave, mounted Combat (Cause I am riding a Pegasus But I thinking of switching out for two weapon fighting), Greater cleave.
my stats are
STR 17
DEX 15
CON 14
INT 14
WIS 12
CHA 16

IN our group we have the bard doing more damage than I am. every one is doing damage in the teens while I am still below 10.

Alas, power attack works best with a two handed weapon. I'd use a greatsword.

Also, make sure you are using a full attack option, so you can get two attacks. Granted the 2nd attack is at -5, but it does mean a 2nd attack.

Using full attack, means not moving around so much. Probably also means you will need to get off that pegasus. :-)

I'd agree that, if damage output is your goal, going 2-handed weapon and getting it enchanted is probably the best way...either go for a property that's effective against foes you come up against frequently (Bane or Flaming/Frost/Shock/etc.) or consider Keen to crit more often.

Also, are you using your Smite ability to its maximum effectiveness? It can really amp up the damage output when used properly.

Either ditch the shield to go two handed or you can go two weapon. However doing two-weapon fighting is highly feat intensive to make sure you are hitting so for a pally i would say go two handed.

ditch the shield and use a two handed weapon, that will get you much much more damage. enchant a greatsword or greataxe with an elemental ability so it does an extra d6 and you should be a great hitter
