pokemon help! what are hm? how do you teach them to a pokemon?

i have pokemon soul silver on nintendo ds, have no manual or booklet whatsoever!! What are hm? how do you use them? And lol, im sorry if i sound really stupid!, but i just finshed the whole violet town thing, went to azelea town (however spelt) have some damn egg and i dont know what im doing?! do i have a misson!?

you get HMs along the story, and they are Hidden Moves and they each have outside3 effect that you will need to complete the main story.

to use them,

go to your bag

go to the place with the TMs and HMs

click on the wanted HM

select use

choose a pokemon with an ABLE by it



hope you happen to like pokemon

as you go along, you will get used to it, and then later think your the best player in the world with all your hacked shiny legendaries

then people like me will come and own you with crappy pokemon

then you will wonder why

then you will learn

Ok looks like you have two questions here

1) HMs (Hidden Machines) are like TMs (Technical Machines, you know the moves you have in your TM Slot) but unlike TMs they stay there forever, they don't run out. A HM is a regular move but will also help you throughout the journey, you actually need all 8 HMs to completely finish the game. For example the TM Surf will allow you to travel in water if you teach it to one of your Pokemon (granted that that Pokemon needs to be in your party).



2) Ok if you're in Azalea now then you've probably haven't went to the Slowpoke Well. First go to Kurt's House (it won't be hard to find there are only a few houses, it's the one at the top left corner of the town). Talk to Kurt, he'll go to the Slowpoke Well. Go there as well and battle your way to the Rocket Executive, after you beat him the gym will be open and you can go there. Go to the gym, win the badge, then head left towards the Ilex Forest, you'll also have a rival battle before you enter the forest so make sure to heal your Pokemon after the gym. After you beat the rival go to the forest and continue on from there.

Hm are move you can teach to a certain pokemon.

It allows the pokemon to use the move outside battle.

For example: cut can be used to cut down thin trees which block your path.

But think carefully when your about to teach your pokemon an hm move



you cannot drop a Hm move ! You need a move deleter to forget it.

You can't sell Hms.

Hms are reusable.



There are 8 Hm moves in total. most would be normal type moves . some would be water type moves!

HM is Hidden Machine

Unlike TM - Techincal Machine it nevers breaks

HM/TM teach your pokemon moves that are compatible with.

HM/TM can be found in the bag under HM/TM

Hidden Machine like certain TM can be used outside of battle

HM01 is cut which is the one you get in Azalea Town

To teach a pokemon an HM/TM go in bag and under the HM/TM catagory ( The one with CD picture)

You choose which one you want to teach your pokemon. Only certain pokemon can learn a certain HM/TM. After you choose what pokemon you want to use it on. It will act as if you learned a new move.

In Azalea town

You have to go to Kurt The Pokeball Creator. His house is in the top left corner of town, He has a white apricot Tree outside his house. You talk to him and he will go to the slowpoke well and you go there too. Just follow the path and you will fight team rocket grunts.After that you will automatically go back into Kurts house and he will make pokeballs from Apricots but they take a day to make. After that you go left out to the Ilex Forest. You will see a guy who has lost his farfetch'D. You kinda play like a mini- game trying to catch the Farfetch'D. After you get the Farfetch'D. The man will give you HM01 which is Cut

You teach HM01 to a pokemon and now you can cut down Trees Go through the Ilex forest and the game will tell you what to do



The Egg is a Togepi. It will hatch after a while

first HMs are a move for a pokemon to learn to get through obsticals like fly is to fly places rock climb is to run up walls and surf is to surf to places and second the egg is to hatch into a pokemon so keep running around with the egg in your party until it hatches and it is not a mission hope this helps.
