White elephant is a pretty popular gift exchanging game. Everyone brings a present of roughly the same value and then get a slip of paper with a number on it. The person with number one opens one of the wrapped presents. The person with number two get a chance to steal the first person's present or open a new present. The third person gets to steal any of the two open presents or open a new one. etc.

My favourite is the one played with a pack of cards.



First, there should be enough gifts so that everyone will end up with 2 or 3. You put all the wrapped gifts in the middle and people sit around them. Then you distribute all the cards.



Using a 2nd deck of cards, you then draw cards one by one. As long as there is gifts in the middle, people have to choose gifts in there. Once all the gifts have been picked, you can go steal a gift from another person. Once all the cards have been drawn, the game is over and you then open the gifts, preferably one by one so you can see what they are
