How does someone get a copy of a game before its released?

The guy who kept posting all those videos of gta v.
How exactly did he get a copy of gta v before its released?
Did he hack the rock star computers and steal the iso?
Did one of the employees release the iso?
Why would one of their employees do that?
Those are the only two ways I can think of being able to get a hold of a game before its release date.

Like, nothing was open yet? Did you hear about a beta release? It's most likely a beta version. Otherwise he's either an amazing hacker or is close with an employee

Sometimes, if someone is playing a game for a business (like a channel on youtube who gets paid to do walkthroughs and things), a developer will give them an early access copy for them to play and upload. Sometimes it's the full game, other times just an extended demo.

Rockstar could send him a copy of the game to show others game play, because if hes a popular gamer on youtube he can be sponsered by rockstar to play the game early.



Also sometimes games are released earlier in other countries and someone could ship it to you.
