I'm playing it on playr.org not on a gameboy and when I go to the team menu and press the "move" button it only shows me a description of the pokemon's stats and there's no release button

To release Pokemon you must go to a Pokemon Center. From there, you acess the PC (computer) in the back right corner of the building. Press A and choose the Bill's PC (or Someone's PC) option. Choose Move Pokemon without Mail (this is abbrieviated in some way, like "move pkmn w/o mail" or something similar. From there choose the pokemon you want to release and press A. The option to release the pokemon should pop up, along with various other options. Go to "release" and press A.

Also, note if Moving pokemon doesn't work, you can try Depositing or Withdrawing the pokemon. But when withdrawing, you may have to change the box to the one the pokemon you want to release is in. To do this go to the PC. Bill's PC (or Someone's PC) and choose to change box. From there find the box that the pokemon is in and switch it to that box. Then go back to withdraw and find the pokemon--Press A and go to release.

If neither work it may be that the online version has a bug or something, because I believe this works in the handheld game. I'm pretty sure of one thing though--you cannot release pokemon from your party just in the middle of nowhere. You have to use the PC in the Pokemon Center.

The old games to release pokemon you needed to change your box then use the withdraw option to find the release tab.
