I want to get rid of this laptop and on here I have all my sims 3 files. I have the base game and 3 expansion packs. Several of my expansion packs I can start up by just going on Origin since some are loaded there.

If some of my expansion packs are on Origin, if I download Origin on another computer, can I still access these expansion packs with all of my saved games?

If not, is there an alternative to transfering all my worlds and expansion packs and saved games to the new desktop?

Please be detailed

If you download your games from origin onto another computer, your saved games will be lost unless you back it up. Here is what you do:

1.) Go to My Documents>Electronic Arts>The Sims 3

2.) Get a USB flash drive

3.) Copy the "Saves" folder and paste it into your flash drive.

4.) If you have mods or custom contents, make sure to copy and paste those too.

-If you have mods, copy your "Mods" folder and paste it to your flash drive.

-If you have custom contents, go to My Documents>Electronic Arts>The Sims 3

and copy the DCCache folder. Paste it to your flash drive.

5.) Safely eject your USB flash drive.

6.) Download all games from origin onto the other computer.

7.) Run your game once and quit when you get to the screen where you choose your game. (This is to let the game make the required folders in My Documents.)

8.) Go to My Documents>Electronic Arts>The Sims 3

9.) Plug in your USB flash drive.

10.) Copy everything in the backed up "Saves" folder (from your USB) and paste it into the new "Saves" folder (on your new computer).

11.) If you have mods, copy the backed up "Mods" folder (on your USB) and paste it to My Documents>Electronic Arts>The Sims 3 (on your new computer).

12.) If you have custom contents, copy everything in the backed up "DCCache" folder (on your USB) and paste it into the new "DCCache" folder (on your new computer).

13.) Close out of everything and run your game. On the screen where you choose your games, you should see the games that were previously on your old computer.

Note: If you choose not to backup Mods or Custom Contents, the items will be replaced with game items. It's not a big deal, so don't worry about it.

That took a long time to type .___.

I hope it helped you! (:

As long as you're logged into your account, you can re-download anything you've purchased. It works the same way with physical copies. Once you've bought it, you can install it on multiple computers. But you're just installing the games and worlds and custom content (if you have any), the saved games won't go with them. There is a trick, however, to moving your saved games to the new desktop. It's a logical solution, so I'm going to tell it to you because it'll probably work, but I haven't tried it myself so I don't know for sure.

On your laptop, go to your 'Documents' folder. Then go to the 'Electronic Arts' folder, then go to 'The Sims 3' folder, and then finally go to the folder labelled 'Saves'. Find the games you want to move, and copy them to a USB stick (or onto a disk, or onto any removable storage device), Then, plug the USB into the new Desktop (or put the disk in or plug in the removable storage device) and copy them from whatever it is you've got and place them in the 'Saves' folder on the new computer (located in the same place 'Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/ Saves') You should be good to go from there. I recommend a USB stick, they're relatively easy to use.

Good luck, and if you have anymore questions about this issue you can e-mail me if you want. But you don't have to. If nothing I've suggested works, you may want to contact EA about it, they should be able to help you.

Why not just copy your Sims 3 folder under My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3? It contains your saves/neighborhoods.
