Have you tried the most recent Java? It is at http://java.com/en/download/download_the_latest.jsp and it sounds like all of those problems are related to Java, so if you haven't downloaded the new version, that might be why.

Sounds like you need more memory space. Also you might have you firewall blocking these particular things as well.
