Does anything like in the movie "The Game" actually exist, and if so - how do I sign up?

In "The Game", Michael Douglas played a guy whose brother signed him up to play a real-life game, filled with danger and intrigue.

Does such a game exist? Would it even be legal? If it does, how do I sign up?

The closest thing I've heard of was the Electronic Arts game "Majestic", which would actually send you threatening IMs, phone calls, faxes, etc. But I'd be more interested in something interactive/immersive like the movie.

If it doesn't, anyone willing to help me start one? I bet people would pay good money for that.

There is a game called Killer by Steve Jackson Games that is really close. It is a pure assasination game that relies on weapon props; i.e. a plastic button dropped in a drink counts as a poison, a red marker makes for a great knife, etc. I tried to get a city-wide game going where players would submit name, photos, three places where they could be found, and any times/places where they were 'out of bounds' Each player would get paid for each kill, which could be used to find out about other players. With good planning, a really good story can be woven into the game, and it could last a good long while. My trouble was finding enough players. Comic book and gaming stores would be a really great place to post to get something like that going.
